Artwork’s description

ALIREZA SHOJAIAN (b. 1988, Tehran) is a Paris-based painter whose work explores queer embodiment, censorship and visibility. Trained at the Faculty of Arts and Architecture, Islamic Azad University in Tehran (BFA, MFA), Shojaian began working in a context where same-sex desire is criminalized and the body tightly policed. These conditions shaped his practice, with painting becoming a means of bearing witness and creating counter-archives for lives often erased from official histories.
