Mysterious and slightly melancholic, the pastels of the young Chinese artist caught the eye despite their small format (30 x 21 cm). The display subtly revealed the ambivalence of these intimate scenes—confronted here by the indiscreet gaze of visitors—by arranging them in the form of an Instagram grid and interspersing them with mirrors.
The Belgian gallery quickly sold out the solo show, which featured 68 works, including this series of pastels priced at €800 each, and paintings that went up to €8,600.
Sales were made mostly to French collectors, mainly in their 30s and 40s, working in the fields of culture, fashion, design, or tech.
“We launched the gallery just under three years ago, and it felt like the right time to take the step into art fairs,” explains Ranji Safarian, co-founder of the gallery, who reports “excellent feedback, both in terms of sales and the encounters and opportunities that opened up throughout the week.” — Alison Moss.
