Jacques Merle is a French artist based in Marseille. He draws portraits that appear both intimate and theatrical. His figures, often young, are suspended in dreamlike settings that hint at transition or passage. Trained in embroidery before devoting himself to drawing, his line remains delicate and free, giving each image a sense of vulnerability. The works read like fragments of a diary while also suggesting characters from a story left untold.
