Blue Vase

Vietnamese-Belgian textile artist Shishi San works primarily with tufting, creating colourful textile artworks that combine pattern, texture and sculptural form. Her practice moves between textile art, drawing, sculpture and design, with references to South and East Asian folklore, symbolism and craft traditions.

Since 2022, San has also developed a series of three-dimensional tufted vases, extending her textile practice into sculpture. Through these handmade works, she explores the possibilities of tufting beyond the wall-based textile, treating fibre as both surface and object.
