Intimate Figures brings together five painters working across figuration, from the body to landscape, and at times to the edge of abstraction. While their approaches differ, each artist engages with intimacy, both in what is depicted and in how the image is constructed.

The exhibition moves between different registers. Carlos Rodriguez focuses on close, often domestic scenes, where the figure is grounded in everyday moments. His paintings feel direct, but never overly descriptive. Jacob Todd Broussard approaches intimacy through narrative. His works carry a personal weight, where memory and imagination overlap. Ralf Kokke’s scenes, by contrast, introduce a sense of distance. His compositions often feel observed rather than shared, creating a subtle tension that borders on voyeurism.

Alongside this, Tatiana Gorgievski works at the limits of figuration. Her paintings shift toward abstraction, where bodies dissolve into color and gesture, and where intimacy is less about depiction than about atmosphere. Artur Grucela approaches the figure through fragmentation, layering faces and perspectives in a way that destabilizes a single point of view.

Together, these works expand what figuration can hold. From clear, grounded scenes to more unstable or abstracted forms, the figure becomes a tool to explore proximity, memory, and perception. Intimacy here is not fixed. It moves between the personal and the distant, the visible and the withheld.

Rather than presenting a single idea of closeness, Intimate Figures opens it up, showing how it can shift depending on how, and from where, we look.
