EDJI Gallery is pleased to present Intimate Figures, a group exhibition presenting new works by Tatiana Gorgievski, Artur Grucela, Ralf Kokke, Jacob Todd Broussard, Carlos Rodriguez.

Intimate Figures brings together five painters approaching the figure in different ways. Some work through narrative and recognizable scenes, while others move toward more fragmented or abstract forms. Across the exhibition, bodies appear in domestic interiors, imagined landscapes, symbolic worlds, and unstable painterly surfaces, reflecting the wide range of what figurative painting can look like today.

Carlos Rodríguez presents intimate scenes centered on the male figure, drawing from everyday life, fantasy, and desire. His compositions feel direct and immediate, balancing simplicity with a strong emotional presence. Jacob Todd Broussard approaches painting through memory, queer culture, and storytelling, building psychologically charged spaces where figures and symbols drift between reality and fiction.

Elsewhere, Artur Grucela places solitary bodies within vast, often hostile landscapes inspired by mythology, Romantic painting, and literary imagery. His scenes feel suspended between dream and catastrophe, where the figure becomes fragile against forces larger than itself. Ralf Kokke constructs symbolic worlds populated by humans, animals, and invented forms, drawing from childhood memory, ancient art traditions, and myth to create paintings that feel playful, strange, and slightly unreal.

Tatiana Gorgievski pushes figuration toward abstraction through a highly instinctive approach to painting. Working without fixed compositions or preparatory sketches, she allows bodies to emerge gradually through gesture, texture, and layers of paint, creating images that remain unstable and constantly shifting.

Together, these works show how contemporary figuration can move between observation and invention, clarity and ambiguity, intimacy and distance. Rather than presenting a single vision of the figure, Intimate Figures brings together five distinct approaches to image-making, each shaped by its own visual language and emotional atmosphere.
